This is Modern Woodman of America Camp 8630. The members were the men and women of the Snoqualmie valley. They were tough, hardworking pioneers who performed the dangerous jobs of harvesting timber, mining coal, building power plants and bringing the railroad over the Cascade mountain range to Snoqualmie, and then Seattle. Prior to the existence of Medical or Life Insurance, fraternal organizations like the Modern Woodman of America were created as a means of social and community structure. The Motto of the society was "per autre vie" meaning " for the life of another". The restoration of the Woodman Lodge stands as a tribute to the spirit and determination of our forefathers, those pioneers who dared to dream against great odds, who lived with honor and took the chance that paved the way for the freedom and luxury we enjoy today.
The current Woodman Lodge began with a grand idea - the idea that a turn-of-the-century building could be revitalized to recapture the position it previously held in the community of Snoqualmie. In the past, our building was the hub of the community, a lodge that served the residents (then woodsmen, railroad workers, and miners) of the Cascade foothills. Our historic 1902 building has now been transformed back into that community hub and is a must-visit restaurant that welcomes visitors from throughout the Puget Sound area. The owner Peter La Haye relishes the unique opportunity to provide outstanding food and excellent service in an ambiance that harkens back to the mining, logging and railroad days of Snoqualmie, Washington.
Situated in the shadows of the Cascade Mountains, twenty miles east of Seattle is the Woodman Lodge. Located in the Historic District of Downtown Snoqualmie, having undergone a two year extensive refurbishment in 2008, the Woodman Lodge is something to behold winning multiple city, state and County awards for the restoration. This 1902 historic venue stands out a bit from your city coat and jacket steak houses. Guests often comment “Dinning at the Woodman Lodge is like stepping back into time”, From a zinc counter bar with its running water spittoon, gas lanterns and Northwest taxidermy, the Woodman Lodge captures the period providing guests a warm ambiance and casual setting. The team behind the scenes who created the wonderful venue believe that the restaurant stands as a tribute to the historical spirit of it’s Snoqualmie Valley founders.
The Woodman Lodge offers dinner throughout the week; (closed Mondays), offering nightly Fresh Pacific seafood specials and wild game in addition to several cuts of prime steaks. Happy Hour is Tuesday through Friday from 4pm – 6pm & all day Sunday. The team believes that they offer guests with the best options of prime steaks, fresh seafood and wild game anywhere in the Pacific Northwest, and the client testimonials and customer satisfaction levels endorse this. Not just content with providing an exceptional culinary experience, guests are also able to select from the award winning wine list, which has been curated by wine lovers of Washington, Oregon and European wines.
Ultimately, there is much for the Woodman Lodge to be excited about, entering into their eleventh year in operation as the Historic Steakhouse and Saloon, the Woodman Lodge has once again become a destination providing wonderful memories for Family and Friends.
